Breakfast is served on the open-air lava deck.

On the shores of one of the most beautiful lakes in the Great Rift Valley, Lake Elmenteita lies a vast, extinct volcano. Seen from the distance, its time-eroded crater suggests the profile of a massive Maasai warrior, resting in peace until the end of time. On the slopes of the volcano, surrounded by 20,000 hectares of the private Soysambu Conservancy, nestles an exclusive tented camp, The Sleeping Warrior Camp.

Ecologically-conceived, the Sleeping Warrior Camp consists of four, widely-spaced, and traditionally-presented safari tents. Linked by winding lava-stone paths, each tent has a locally-thatched roof, a private bathroom, which is partially open to the wilderness, and its own private veranda.

Each tent is locally-made and eco-friendly. All have private or ensuite bathroom facilities with flush toilets, sinks and hot showers. Electricity is solar-powered. The comfortable beds are provided with continental quilts and fine-quality linen. Each tent has its own private furnished terrace. We also offer a secluded ‘getaway’ situated on a lava outcrop, and a room within the main house. The choices are as follows:

Long Hill and Scout Hill tents: 2 large tents with ensuite bathrooms sleep two or three persons each. They are protected with grass roofs.
Half Hill tent: is a smaller tent with a private bathroom just beside the tent. It is protected with a canvas fly-sheet and sleeps comfortably one or two persons.
Boma Tent: has a private leleshwa enclosure and a private bathroom sleeps one or two persons with the option of a separate tent for children Ideal for a family but also for a couple seeking extra privacy.
Eagle’s Nest: is a lava stone/canvas secluded getaway – ideal for escapists: wonderful views of the Sleeping Warrior. Eagle’s nest also features a star-bed (which is pulled out at night enabling guests to sleep beneath the arch of the African skies.
Ututu House bedroom: located within the main building, the room has its own bathroom with bathtub/shower, large sink and a mirror decorated with lava stone.
